Let Valentine’s Day Fuel a Passion for Success

Valentine’s Day reminds us to keep passion in our lives, and being passionate about achieving success should be top of mind as we explore what’s in our hearts this month.  Putting passion into action to achieve success is about defining what you want, and then doing what it takes to get it.

Staying passionate is what drives us beyond fear to reach a goal.  Passion can be found in many aspects of our lives.  It can be sparked by an experience, or something we’ve learned in life.  Some turn their own suffering into a political or fundraising cause to help others.  For example, after the 9/11 attacks, my NYC-based cousin left her job in IT to join the FBI to fight terrorism.

In my book “Fearless Living: 8 Life-Changing Values for Breakthrough Success,” I discuss how passion can lead to fuller and richer lives for ourselves and those around us.  There are five simple questions to ask yourself as you begin to focus on using your passion to push past fear and create success:

1. What is your passion?

Identify what is deep inside you that drives you to make a difference in your life and the lives of others.

2. How can you use your passion?

Determine how your passion can give you the courage to take action that will change things for the better for you, your family, your community – and even the world.

3. Is your passion working for you?

Make sure to maintain awareness of whether your passion is moving you forward or holding you back. After all, a passion for a vice or addiction can lead to devastating consequences so channel your passion for positivity.

4. Do you have a passion to learn?

Never stop learning; seeking and gaining knowledge adds fuel to anything you’re passionate about. Knowledge deepens your love for your passion.

5. Have you created a passion plan?

Set realistic expectations for where you want your passion to take you. Then go ahead with gusto and never settle for less. It’s a beautiful thing when you find yourself falling in love with your passion ever so often.

Once you’ve given yourself honest answers to these questions, then you’re ready to put your passion into action.  So, when Valentine’s Day rolls around this month, you’ll be celebrating your own passion for success.
